LDC Elections 2021 – Vote

Please vote for up to THREE candidates only.

Glumangate Dental Practice, Chesterfield

Since qualifying in dentistry 24 years ago, I have worked in general dentistry, I also became an educational supervisor in 2012.

I would like to join this committee to further support the profession and utilise the knowledge and skills I have picked up through my time working.

I have attended numerous LDC meetings, courses and peer reviews and have found them to be greatly useful and so would like to join the committee to further support the profession and assist with the organisation of such courses to ensure they can continue to benefit dentists.

Furthermore, during the pandemic I played an active role in fit-testing other dentists and also supported the LDC. Seeing how such schemes are vital for the smooth-running of dentistry, particularly during constantly evolving circumstances has highlighted to me the significance of the LDC and its work aiding dentists across the community. This is something I would like to be part of.

Hafren House Dental Practice, 1 Cressy Rd, Alfreton , Derbyshire DE55 7BR

I have worked in NHS General Dental Practice in Derbyshire for over 20 yrs and been a member of the LDC since 2015. I am also a research fellow at the University of Sheffield, part-time clinical teacher at Kings college London, and Oral and Dental Specialty Lead at the East Midlands CRN. It’s been a privilege to be part of such an active LDC as ours, with members freely giving up their time in sharing and learning with colleagues. I hope to continue assisting local dental practices through the LDC and supporting practice-based research.

Broadwalk Dental Practice, Buxton

I have been providing primary dental care in the NHS for over thirty years. I have an interest in education, having been an educational supervisor, and I am currently a training programme director for the dental foundation training scheme in Derbyshire. I would like to remain on the LDC to provide members with updates relating to DFT across Derbyshire. This will allow a point of contact for prospective educational supervisors as well as current educational supervisors to question and gain information relating to the provision and planning of DFT.

Glumangate Dental Practice and Chatsworth Dental Care, Chesterfield

I joined Derbyshire County LDC in 2012, became vice-chair in 2017 and chair in 2021. I have organised dozens of CPD courses for dental teams as well as peer review sessions. During the pandemic, I worked hard to distribute important updates to dental practices, set up the very successful LDC Whatsapp group, organised volunteers for Urgent Dental Care Centres, and helped colleagues start their practices again safely.

In my role as Chair, my aim is to build on the increased communication and supportive role for our constituents, provide additional innovative ways to help, and to continue to represent the profession to improve dental services in Derbyshire.

Holt House Dental practice, Matlock, De5 9QS

I should be honoured with a position on the committee due to my clinical, vocational and educational skills in this current climate. Providers currently dominate the LDC committee, and more associates must be represented on the committee. I have launched legal proceedings against the NHSBSA and a judicial review against the professional authority for health and social care to support dental associates.

The LDC should have only qualified Principals and hon. Med. Doctors, both at OFQUAL 9, at the helm. My experience, knowledge, and skills are vital to safeguarding associates in the future months and why I must be allocated a position on the committee.

Hope Dental, Eccles Close, Off Edale Road, Hope

I qualified from Birmingham in 1998 and started my career in the Royal Air Force, being promoted to Squadron Leader and Unit Dental Officer before taking a sabbatical in 2005 to enter private practice in Buxton, which I found extremely enjoyable. However, in 2008 I decided to take on a more challenging role in a large NHS practice in Ball Haye Green, a deprived area in Leek, Staffordshire as the clinical lead of a 7-surgery practice. I found the role unexpectedly rewarding, feeling like I could actually make a real difference to people in need of help and in supporting colleagues working within the practice. In 2012 I took over Hope Dental Clinic with a view to modernize and streamline the service it offered. I continue to be passionate about dentistry and promoting oral health and I attend as many courses as possible in a variety of different aspects of dentistry.

I have 3 teenage children which means I like to spend as much time as I can with my dog and I enjoy walking around the Peak District.

I wish to join the Committee to connect with like-minded people to assist and support the local dental population in providing the best dental service possible within the NHS. I have been responsible for the delivery and clinical governance of an NHS contract since 2008 and I feel I have experience that may be helpful to other practitioners in the region.

Clay Cross Dental, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, S45 9JG

I qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2006, and moved into General practice in Chesterfield. I became a member of the Derbyshire County LDC in 2008. I passed MJDF in 2012, and became a Foundation Trainer that same year. I obtained my Pg Dip Healthcare Education in 2018.

In my free time I practice Martial Arts including Karate and JuJutsu.

I believe that I can bring my experiences of the above to the LDC, and represent members that are associates and not Practice owners.

Saltergate Dental Care, 115 Saltergate, Chesterfield, DERBYS S40 1NF

I qualified from Bristol in 2001 and have worked in Derbyshire ever since. I have been an elected member of the LDC since 2004. As a GDP and partner in a busy NHS practice in Chesterfield, I feel that it is important that the LDC members continue to reflect the opinions and interests of local dentists. I would like the opportunity to continue to play a role in this vital representation of our profession.

{my}dentist, Queen Elizabeth Way, Kirk Hallam

I am a general dentist, graduated in 2003. Since 2007 I have been working at dental practice at Kirk Hallam in Derbyshire and have special interest in dental implants and aesthetic dentistry. I have taken 2-year implant diploma training by FGDP(UK). Alongside I am also certified practitioner of Invisalign, Clear correct and Six-month smiles orthodontic systems.

I am an avid learner and enjoy learning every aspect. It has been an honour for me to be able to represent you as an elected Derbyshire country LDC member over past 10 years. I enjoy working alongside my colleagues and am always available for anyone who may need any assistance that I can provide

Eyre Street Dental, Clay Cross, Chesterfield

I have worked in Clay Cross for almost 25 years, working as an VT, associate and then progressing to a practice partner of a new start up within 5 years of graduating.

Through the various reincarnations of NHS contracts, we have developed the practice having seven surgeries and with a recent refurbishment of a neighbouring property, are now about to open a further two more surgeries. Alongside this, I have been a foundation dentist trainer for 10 years which I thoroughly enjoy and continue to do so. As part of continual professional development, I have achieved a MSc in Endodontics 3 years ago.

With this experience in hand, I want to help the concerns and interests of both young and mature dentists, in a training year or as an associate, and the many DCP’s and therapists whom we work alongside who are an essential part of our care.
